What Cars Do Successful Traders Drive?
This is a very difficult question to answer.
Searching the web and asking AI engines will not produce very satisfying results.
Yet, the answer may already be obvious to some of you reading this.
Nevertheless, continue to read what may be a fun article.
It is only in the end that the answer is revealed – so as not to spoil it for the rest.
For whatever reason, making profits from trading is associated with owning Lamborghinis, as seen in various social media accounts.
While researching for this article, I found a few traders that own Lamborghinis and the equivalently expensive Ferraris.
Last time I checked, the MSRP for a new Lambo is two hundred thousand to three hundred thousand US dollars.
The average MSRP for a Ferrari also starts at around $200,000.
One particular trade, who has a blue Ferrari license plate tweeted:
“Controlling risk on the race track is not unlike controlling risk in the options market. Keep speed/size in your comfort zone and think two steps ahead”.
Good advice for driving and good advice for trading.
While some may choose luxury or high-performance vehicles as a reward for their success or simply because they have the means to do so, other traders may prioritize practicality and reliability, opting for fuel-efficient cars that are easy to maintain.
The equities day trader known as HumbledTrader drives an old Toyota Corolla.
And no, Shay (her real name) doesn’t have another car on the side.
How do I know this?
On a Speculators Podcast, the host Aaron Korbs (futures trader) asked Shay this same question.
Shay said she will probably drive the Corolla for another two years while it’s on its last leg and then upgrade to a Toyota RAV4 to take it snowboarding.
Shay even shows a picture of her 20-year-old Corolla in her YouTube video.
Interestingly enough, she talks about Lambos on her YouTube channel’s “About page.”
She writes:
“Are you tired of all the Lambos, the luxury travel and partying you see in day trading ads? I am, too! And I promise you won’t see any of that here.”
Some of you may think she is not making enough in trading to buy a better car.
I doubt that’s the case because we can see her brokerage statement in one of her YouTube videos.
Anyone who can day trade with that kind of size to make that kind of profit must know what they are doing.
What car does the futures trader Aaron Korbs drive?
He doesn’t have a car.
He mentioned that he sold it, just Ubers around as needed, and had food delivered via Uber Eats.
Seriously?
Where does he say this?
You don’t know how many YouTube videos I watched to get this information.
But I got it here at this timestamp.
The Answer
In this article, we have seen a good cross-section of traders, including an options trader, an equities day trader, and a futures trader.
The cars they drive range from Ferraris to Corollas to no cars.
This is to prove a point (which may seem obvious now) that traders, like anyone else, have diverse tastes and priorities, and their choice of vehicle will reflect those individual preferences and circumstances.
Like individuals in any profession, they may drive a wide range of vehicles.
The type of car they drive may not necessarily be indicative of their success as traders.
Ultimately, the choice of car is personal and can vary greatly from trader to trader.
