CRWD showed up on my watchlist as a long-term pullback setup—one of the two primary trading strategies I use. I shared the setup with my Discord Monday, entered the position, added another contract after the pullback continued, and then CRWD earnings sent the stock soaring.
My total cost basis was about $400, and the position reached about $2,040 — a 410% gain.
One reason I was comfortable holding was that my options didn’t expire until September 18, giving the trade considerably more time than a short-dated earnings option. More time doesn’t eliminate theta decay or earnings risk, but expiration selection can make a major difference in how an options position behaves.
